"Empire" is created by superimposing the title text in Roman letters based on the Trajan column over a repeating blackletter text reading "Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori" (translation: it is sweet and good to die for one’s country). The concept is that empires are built on such mottos. This piece was created with gouache and color pencil on Canson.
