For "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight," form came before content. Inspired by a historical print, I knew I wanted to create a Celtic knot with the Italic lettering. From there, “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” seemed like the perfect text. The green text is the original content in Middle English and the silver is the modern translation. Writing even Italic letters around curves is particularly challenging. This piece was created with gouache and ink on diploma parchment.
